Mentee Code of Conduct

Academic Integrity & Responsible Engagement Framework

1. Purpose

This Mentee Code of Conduct establishes the ethical, professional, and governance standards expected of all individuals and institutions engaging with MentorsGate.

By registering or entering into any engagement through the Platform, mentees agree to comply with this Code as a condition of participation.

This Code aligns with:

  • Academic integrity principles
  • Institutional governance frameworks
  • Research ethics standards
  • MentorsGate Terms of Engagement
  • IMPARC consortium guidelines
  • IMT (Ignited Minds Today) editorial independence

2. Academic Integrity Commitment

Mentees must uphold internationally recognized standards of academic integrity.

Mentees shall not:

  • Submit plagiarized or misappropriated content
  • Request fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of research data
  • Seek unethical authorship arrangements
  • Request ghostwriting that violates institutional norms
  • Attempt to influence peer-review processes improperly
  • Misrepresent mentor involvement in submissions

MentorsGate provides advisory guidance only. Final submission responsibility lies solely with the mentee.

3. Accurate Disclosure of Information

Mentees are responsible for providing:

  • Accurate project scope and objectives
  • Complete research background information
  • Relevant institutional requirements
  • Ethical clearance details (if applicable)

Misrepresentation of research context or academic status may result in suspension of engagement.

4. Respect for Scope & Professional Boundaries

Mentees must:

  • Operate within the documented scope of engagement
  • Avoid requesting services beyond agreed deliverables
  • Document any requested scope modifications formally
  • Respect mentor expertise boundaries

Unapproved scope expansion may require revision of engagement terms.

5. Communication Standards

Mentees are expected to:

  • Maintain respectful and professional communication
  • Provide timely responses to mentor queries
  • Offer structured feedback within agreed timelines
  • Avoid harassment, discrimination, or inappropriate conduct

Professional conduct is mandatory throughout the engagement.

6. Confidentiality Obligations

Mentees must:

  • Treat mentor communications as confidential
  • Avoid unauthorized sharing of mentor feedback
  • Respect intellectual discussions and advisory insights

Disclosure of confidential materials without consent is prohibited.

7. Ethical Submission Practices

Mentees remain solely responsible for:

  • Journal or conference submission decisions
  • Compliance with institutional and regulatory policies
  • Accurate authorship attribution
  • Disclosure of conflicts of interest

MentorsGate does not guarantee publication acceptance and does not influence editorial decisions.

8. Payment & Financial Conduct

Mentees must:

  • Honor agreed payment schedules
  • Avoid bypassing platform governance for financial transactions
  • Comply with contractual obligations

Non-payment or delayed payment may result in suspension of services.

9. Use of MentorsGate Assist (MG Moderator)

Where MG Moderator oversight is engaged, mentees agree to:

  • Cooperate with milestone documentation
  • Participate in structured review processes
  • Provide necessary clarifications for governance alignment

MG Moderator does not override academic autonomy but ensures procedural transparency.

10. Institutional Representation

If engaging on behalf of an institution, the mentee must:

  • Possess appropriate authorization
  • Ensure compliance with institutional policies
  • Avoid misrepresenting institutional approval

Formal agreements may be required for institutional engagements.

11. Prohibited Conduct

The following actions may result in disciplinary measures:

  • Academic misconduct requests
  • Harassment or discriminatory behavior
  • Confidentiality breaches
  • Fraudulent documentation
  • Non-compliance with agreed terms
  • Repeated failure to meet communication obligations

12. Dispute Resolution Cooperation

In the event of disputes, mentees agree to:

  • Participate in good-faith resolution discussions
  • Provide relevant documentation
  • Accept structured review under platform policy

Administrative determinations are guided by documented agreements and governance standards.

13. Consequences of Non-Compliance

Violation of this Code may result in:

  • Formal warning
  • Temporary suspension of services
  • Termination of account
  • Restriction from future engagement

Outstanding financial obligations remain enforceable.

14. Alignment with IMPARC & IMT

For engagements involving:

  • IMPARC (Ignited Minds Professional & Academic Research Consortium)
  • IMT (Ignited Minds Today Magazine)

additional academic governance or editorial policies may apply.

Editorial acceptance decisions remain independent.

Acknowledgment

By engaging with MentorsGate services, mentees acknowledge that they:

  • Have read and understood this Mentee Code of Conduct
  • Accept responsibility for ethical academic behavior
  • Agree to comply with governance and integrity standards
