About Mythili
Professional Story I am Dr. Mythili Kolluru—a management academic, author, speaker, and certified Strategy Planning Professional (SPP). My professional journey spans more than 24 years of teaching, mentoring, and consulting across the Middle East, Asia, and North America. At the heart of my work is a purpose: to turn complex ideas into clear, actionable insights that help people think more deeply, make informed decisions, and lead with purpose. I hold a PhD in Strategic Management from Andhra University and serve as an Assistant Professor at the College of Banking and Financial Studies in Muscat, Oman. Since 2017, I have led modules in strategic management, international business, and organizational behavior. Across my career, my work has reached more than 15,000 learners—a responsibility that continues to shape how I approach education, professional development, and the connection between knowledge and practice. Connecting Strategy with People My professional interests sit at the intersection of organisational strategy and human behaviour. Strategy provides direction, but people bring it to life through their judgment, motivation, relationships, and everyday decisions. My experience in teaching, mentoring, and consulting has therefore involved not only business management, but also the human dimensions of leadership and organisational life. Working across different regions has given my career an international foundation. It has also provided a valuable setting for exploring questions that connect management education with professional practice: How do people understand their organisations? What helps leaders translate intentions into action? How can individuals develop the clarity and confidence to contribute meaningfully in changing workplaces? These questions frame the perspective I bring to mentoring. Research and Intellectual Interests My academic foundation is strategic management, while my wider intellectual interests encompass leadership, human behaviour, motivation, international business, and the future of work. My teaching and public writing connect these areas, examining both organisational direction and the experiences of the people who shape it. The future of work is a particular focus of my writing. My book, The Future of Work, explores trust, attention, and the changing shape of the workplace. These themes invite us to look beyond new tools or working arrangements and consider deeper questions about how people collaborate, sustain their attention, build relationships, and find meaning in professional life. My published work also includes Knowledge Oman, which tells a story of diverse leaders, committed people, and shared purpose. Alongside this, my forthcoming work on mindfulness reflects an interest in slowing down to think clearly—an important complement to the demands of strategy and leadership. Together, these projects reflect my interest in how purposeful organizations and thoughtful individuals develop. Writing and Public Engagement Writing is an important extension of my academic work. Through my weekly columns in the Oman Daily Observer, which include more than 100 articles, I bring ideas into a wider public conversation. My website also features Strategy Snippets, offering shorter reflections on strategy, leadership, and the future of work. Across these formats, my aim is to make substantial ideas accessible without losing their depth. This connection between scholarship and public communication is central to the professional identity I bring to mentoring. Understanding an idea is one task; explaining its relevance, questioning its assumptions, and applying it thoughtfully are equally important. My Mentoring Approach The mentoring philosophy I want to bring to Mentor Gate is grounded in clarity: clarity about the challenge a person faces, the assumptions influencing their thinking, the capabilities they want to develop, and the next steps they can realistically take. I see mentoring as a thoughtful partnership, not a process of simply supplying answers. My aim is to create space for meaningful questions, honest reflection, and constructive dialogue. I want mentees to strengthen their own judgment not become dependent on someone else’s conclusions.
